Where do I donate materials?
Up-Stitch is accepting donations BY APPOINTMENT ONLY in our shop at 350 New Scotland Ave. Albany, NY 12208.
Please email us at volunteers.upstitch@gmail.com or call our donation line at (518) 618-2945 and leave a message with your name, phone number and the amount of materials you would like to donate. A volunteer will return your call or email to make an appointment.
Donation Guidelines
All donations must be checked in with an Up-Stitch volunteer.
You must be able to unload your own donations from your car. Help will not be available.
Please limit your donation to no larger than 2 boxes or bags.
Please write your zip code on the outside of your donation boxes or bags.
If you would like a tax letter please ask for one in person when you donate.
Donation Materials
We DO accept:
Fabric LARGER than 1/2 yard
Cotton Fat Quarters
Notions of all kinds including: pins, scissors, buttons, elastic, thread
Sewing tools in working condition
New (in package) pillow forms, stuffing and batting
Quilting tools in working condition
Embroidery hoops and embroidery floss
Yarn of all types and quantities
Knitting needles, crochet hooks and knitting/crochet accessories
WORKING sewing machines
Books - current preferred
We DO NOT accept:
Magazines
Patterns (clothing, quilting, knitting, etc)
Pre-made items such as: clothing, tablecloths, curtains, etc…
Fabric scraps
Craft supplies (paint, beads, artificial flowers, etc)
We only accept items from smoke-free homes and without odors from pets, mothballs, or moisture.
If you have other items you think might be related please ask an Up-Stitch employee.

Accepts fabric, quilting supplies, and finished quilts to donate to the women that live on the Navajo Nation.

Accepts gently used books. Better World Books sells the books online, donates them to literacy partners around the globe, and recycles them if necessary. Albany Public Library and the APL Foundation receive a portion of the proceeds from the online sales of books donated at our sites. That money goes back into your neighborhood libraries to make them better.

Angel Gowns
Accepts wedding gowns, First Communion dresses and other formal wear to be transformed into angel gowns by our seamstresses.
Angel Gowns is an all-volunteer group helping parents who have suffered the loss of a baby by providing burial gowns, free of charge, to the families.
